Balloon sinuplasty Wesley Chapel FL

A breakthrough in chronic sinusitis treatment, balloon sinuplasty is a safe and minimally invasive way to relieve unpleasant sinus pain, throbbing pressure and related symptoms. Scotch Institute of Ear Nose & Throat is proud to offer this innovative technology to patients at our offices in Wesley Chapel and Trinity, Florida. Led by board-certified otolaryngologist Dr. Brett Scotch, our practice provides the highest level of sinus care in a friendly, comfortable, and modern setting. Dr. Scotch collaborates with Dr. Hope Bueller and Dr. Andrew Agnew to ensure our patients receive the well-rounded treatment they deserve.

What is a Balloon Sinuplasty?

Balloon sinuplasty (also known as balloon sinus dilation) drastically improves upon traditional endoscopic sinus procedures that usually involve cutting nasal bones and tissues. Thankfully, there are no large incisions, significant discomfort, or lengthy recovery periods involved in a balloon sinuplasty, and it does not limit future treatment options for patients with progressive conditions.

In this outpatient procedure, a tiny deflated balloon is fed into the sinuses through the nose and inflated to very gently remodel the bone and allow the sinuses to drain. In select cases, a saline solution is sprayed to help flush out mucus. The balloon is then deflated and carefully removed from the sinuses, leaving them clear and open. The bone will heal itself, and the recovery period is remarkably fast—most patients are able to return to the activities they enjoy soon after the procedure is complete.

Furthermore, our doctors perform this procedure right here in our Wesley Chapel and Trinity offices, eliminating the added expense of going to a hospital or surgery center. To ensure the best possible outcome for our patients, we utilize an advanced 3D image-guided sinus navigation computer that provides enhanced precision during the procedure. (Dr. Scotch was the first ENT surgeon in Pasco County to implement this progressive technology.) Furthermore, general anesthesia is not necessary with a balloon sinuplasty; only a numbing agent is needed to keep patients comfortable. This translates to fewer possible surgical complications and a more rapid return to everyday activities.
